THE SECOND ANNUAL NAMIBIAN NATURAL HAIR EXPO
The second Namibian Natural Hair Expo will take place on the 10th September 2016 at the Eros Park Primary School in Windhoek. Doors open from 10h00 to 17h00.
The aim of the expo will be to:
-
Showcase the beauty of natural African hair.
-
Showcase exhibitors with naturally made and local Namibian homegrown products.
-
Provide holistic health advice for top to toe fitness.
-
Showcase natural hairstyles and hair demos that will help women take care of their natural hair.
-
Debate on whether natural hair vs western beauty deserves its place in African society.
-
Launch the first ever Namibian Natural Hair Guide.
In Africa, western concepts of beauty dominate our screens, our magazines and our billboards. Natural African hair has taken a back seat in the flooding of our media with pictures of straight hair, chemically beautified hair, weaves and other artificial hair that is heralded as beautiful. We also live in a society where beauty products are made from synthesised, chemically laden products, and the organisers would like to showcase a more natural, chemical free, green way of living as well as the beauty and versatility of natural African hair.
The Expo will be a yearly event and this year will host a teaser of the first ever Namibian Natural Hair Guide; authored by local writers. There will be kid’s activities, natural hair discussions, hair management talks, as well as performances and a number of product prize giveaways!
Organisers:
Kumbi Short of Simana Naturals Emporium
Martha Mukungu of Malize Hair Tutorials
Sharon Emvula of Afrorage
Zodidi Gaseb of African Naturals
Patience Mukandi/ Natural Hair Enthusiast
